Advanced manufacturing engineering intern

May - August 2018 • Warwick, RI

What I liked

Breadth of exposure to different sides of the product development cycle.

What I wish was different

The experience was very much an office job, and the company was so large and corporate that it was sometimes hard to keep track of outcomes.

Advice

Explore large and small company offerings, pros and cons of each, etc. This internship was great because I feel like I gained meaningful experience in many facets of working for an engineering company.

Product Marketing Intern

May 2018 • San Diego, CA

What I liked

The product saves lives, the team invests in me, and everyone just wanted me to get as much out of the experience as I could! The team was friendly, gave me diverse projects, and treated me with respect. I loved being part of a team that valued me and my education and wanted to teach me so much that I could never have learned in a classroom.

What I wish was different

I wish the commute was shorter and that it was a more fast-paced industry, but overall it was awesome!

Advice

I never thought that I would want to work for a big company up until now. I recommend getting diverse experiences so you have a lot under your belt before choosing the direction you want to go in. I would also say to interview the employees you work for and learn what they did and what they do. You'll never know the kind of advice and conversation that will stem out of that!

Procurement Intern

May - August 2018 • Franklin Lakes, NJ

What I liked

The company culture was great and really provided ample resources for the interns to learn and take initiative on our projects.

What I wish was different

Advice

In general, I think that in any internship you should ask as many questions as you can to learn and make the most of the experience. I think its also helpful to voice your preferences if you want to learn more about certain areas of the business because more often than not, your manager or other employees are willing to talk with you about that.
