Student Researcher

June - August 2022 • Saint Paul, MN

What I liked

I enjoyed the opportunity of being able to participate in research in my field of study. I also enjoyed practicing essential skills like presenting, analyzing data, using lab technology, creating graphs, and developing experiments. Additionally, I appreciated that it allowed me to earn some money while also getting some more experience in the lab.

What I wish was different

I wish that I would have lived close because I lived an hour away from my research job. I also wish that we had a little more time to look over the literature and perform more replications of experiments to help validate the findings.

Advice

I would say to accept these kind of opportunities if you can. It can be an enjoyable experience; you can learn new skills; you can meet new people; you get to see if that kind of work interests you; and it provides something you can add to a resume.
