College Financial Representative

June - August 2019 • Las Vegas, NV

What I liked

I loved the representatives I got to work with and how much they wanted to teach us.

What I wish was different

I wish this program was more organized. I did not know what I was really going to be doing or how much the stipend would actually be. No one really took charge of our experience and it made it hard to feel confident in this career field.

Advice

If you have a good network of people that need insurance this is a great job for you. But if you're like me and have middle-class connections, it can be hard to sell insurance to someone that knows you're leaving after the summer.

College Financial Representative

June 2019 • Delafield, WI

What I liked

Great corporate culture, learned a lot about financial planning and developing my own business.

What I wish was different

Preparation for the job could have been better, wish I had known quite how long the sales cycle would be, as most of the compensation was through commission.

Advice

It’s a great work environment for hard working people who are willing to be paid what they are truly worth.

May - August 2019 • Cleveland, OH

What I liked

Fantastic training programme as far as learning about life insurances role in financial planning and becoming comfortable with the sales aspect of the finance field.

What I wish was different

I would have liked them to be more upfront about what you will experience in the day to day job. They talked about big numbers as far as earning potential and average sales numbers, however I quickly found this to only be true for a very few people.

Advice

Only pursue this internship if you are looking for fantastic sales and a broad financial service experience while not really caring about the money.

What I liked

I love the environment of the office and the network I have had the opportunity to build. I also have really enjoyed how hands-on the internship is and how I am treated like a regular employee. I get to run my own practice, build my client base, and meet with clients on my own. I have gained an immense amount of experience and confidence throughout the internship.

What I wish was different

A little bit more guidance and clarification in what is required on a weekly bases.

Advice

If you aren't self motivated/driven, you will fail in this position. You have to be confident and be willing to call on friends and family in order to be successful. If you don't have a selling mentality, this internship is not for you!
