What I liked
Meeting all the kids and building relationships with them and my fellow counselors. I had so much fun with everyone it didn’t even feel like work!
What I wish was different
I wish I could have worked the morning shift more often so I could have more time for myself and my friends and family in the evenings.
Advice
If you’ve ever thought about being a counselor in any capacity, or working with kids, or maybe you just want a fun job, I highly recommend something similar to YMCA Childcare Services. You’ll fall in love with it. Even the hard parts.

I loved working with he kids and my co workers. It didnt feel like a job with how much I had fun and appreciated the opportunity to be at camp and spend it with my campers who made my summer amazing.
What I wish was different
I wish that I had found out about this camp sooner than I did. Last year was my first year working there and I wish I had been there longer.
Advice
It can be difficult working with kids all day especially if they are in elementary school but it's so rewarding when they show how much they care about you or appreciate you.

I had a great experience working here, though I do wish to have worked more hours.

Every children is different. We should appreciate and celebrate every kid for their individuality since this early time in their life.

I loved being able to bond with the children that were put in my group and teach them new things. I also loved having them all teach me new things to stay up to date with the kids!

I wish the weather was as hot as it had been but in Florida what else can you expect

I wish we could have done more for the children past giving them day care. Most of these children deserve so much more of what they have.

While I wish I had more time to take off for personal life matters, it was nice to have spent my time in the summer in Prescott.

Choose you time wisely and be willing to help out in any activitiee you're trained for! There's ton of room to explore what you're most interested in.

I liked being able to work with young kids and make friends with them, as well as be a role model.
What I wish was different
The camp I worked at was streamlined and more suitable for kids who had never been away from home before. I'm looking to transition into a program where I can be a wilderness instructor for backpacking trips, because I enjoy both teaching about and being in the outdoors more.
Advice
This is a great job for high school graduates or college students, although wages are probably made with this demographic in mind. Either way, it's a low stress environment and a very fun place to work.

I wish the organization was better and the management. I did not get the hours I was promised and I was under the impression that my position would be different.
Advice
I would say this is a good job to have to if you are going into a field that deals with kids because you really get to know them and better understand how and why they act certain ways. Also, you gain skills on how to deal with behavioral issues and talking to their parents as well.
