Camp Joy

About Camp Joy

Camp Joy was founded 83 years ago after the Cincinnati flood of 1937 in an effort to offer respite to local youth facing hardship. The camp has moved several times but has since settled in Clarksville, Ohio on 317 acres large enough to support Camp Joy’s mission to help people grow and succeed through life-long experience based learning.

Camp Joy offers 3 programmatic areas: Venture Out!, Outdoor Schools Program, and Camps. The Camps team provides summer camp experiences for populations of youth that wouldn't otherwise have the opportunity to attend overnight camp. This includes children in the foster care system as well as those with chronic medical conditions.

Contact Joe Creaghead, Camps Program Manager, at joecreaghead@camp-joy.org for more information about employment opportunities at Camp Joy.

Volunteering for Camp Joy

June 2019 - June 2019 Aiken, SC
“I really enjoy helping and volunteering with Special Olympics, and with Camp Joy, you recieve one on one time 24/7 with your camper. I had been doing volunteer work with special needs since I was 14 years old and never once have I wanted it to end. I really appreciate how much it has opened my eyes through the years, and has made me really thankful for what I do have in my life. ”
