What I liked

My coworkers were very supportive, they gave me a lot of good information about the career prospects in the field, and what types of experience I should be looking to gain. In particular, they gave advice on industry certifications that I could achieve through independent study (Comp TIA Network+, Security+, CCNA, etc.) and lent me resources to study for Network+.

What I wish was different

I wish I had been more involved in understanding how HME chose its security posture. There were meetings that I could've sat in on, which would have been interesting.

Advice

Make sure you have a sense of how the work you do is useful to your professional development before you start. If I had thought more about the work I was going to do, I could've been more aggressive in seeking work that benefited me more than the company.
