Departure Assist Agent

July - September 2018 • Seatac Airport, WA

What I liked

I loved all the benefits. I had free flights from Alaska so I was able to travel all over the place during the summer and I still have some coupons for flights in the future.

What I wish was different

I wish they taught us how to do more stuff and found a way to break up the tedium of the work day. The people at the job were also a little sexist so I wish there were an easier way to confront that besides filing a report and making it a huge deal.

Advice

Get a summer job. It's really easy and fun and it gives you a lot of insight into what it's like to be an entry level worker. I feel like it's important for everyone to understand the struggles of entry level workers and you meet so many people that you never would have in any other situation.

Departure Agent

May - August 2019 • Seatac, WA

What I liked

Great benefits! Being able to fly for free was amazing! Met some awesome people and made some good friends.

What I wish was different

I was able to make the schedule that I would be working. I have the option to work 4 days on 3 days off but I wasn't thinking and I signed up for a 5-day work week. When you can fly for free having 3 days off is perfect for traveling.

Advice

Use your flight benefits! Especially if it's just a summer job. Plan where you want to go and when just do it. Also id you're going to have this job and you want to be able to fly to some really cool places make sure you have your passport before you start the job It'll make everything a lot smoother
