Chemical Engineering Intern

What I liked

Eli Lilly is a wonderful company that continues to enhance its employers' knowledge by offering many opportunities to branch out into different fields. I had an amazing time working in a team setting to explore my laboratory skills and use my educational background to conduct research that is beneficial for the company.

I would have liked to had the opportunity to work in other departments and interact more with the interns so that I could learn about their experience. The company allowed me to network and learn

Advice

This internship provides many opportunities to network and grows as a student. Everyone should take advantage of every moment Eli Lilly has to offer to their interns.

Molding Engineer Intern

May - August 2019 • Indianapolis, IN

What I liked

Terrific company, very friendly environment, "Team Lilly" atmosphere, interns are treated very well. Your internship is centered around a project and you build a great team to support you. Fridays you will spend your days with the other interns taking tours of different departments and having "Lunch and Learns".

What I wish was different

Location and living situation were tough and being far from home.

Advice

Have as many 1:1's as you can! Enter with a willingness to learn about the industry and the company. If you are not willing to relocate, this isn't the internship for you. To make the most of the experience you should know that the company wants to bring back people to work full-time if you do a good job. If you have no intention of going there, it is not worth the time.

Pharmaceutical Sales Representative Intern

May - August 2018 • Charlotte, NC

What I liked

My internship with Lilly offered incredible hands-on experience that was unmatched by any other internships I pursued. I had the opportunity to go to corporate for sales training, work closely with mentors on my sales team, and was encouraged to set goals that allowed me to work at my full potential. With the Lilly internship, I also had the privilege of working with and learning from doctors and other staff in primary care offices. This allowed me to gain real-world pharmaceutical sales experience and learn from all aspects of the industry.

What I wish was different

Advice

I would advise applicants that this is a rigorous program. Applicants should expect to invest a lot of time and effort, as the internship offers so many opportunities to learn and grow as a young professional. The more interns are willing to put into the experience, the more they will gain. Be prepared to actively participate, think outside the box, and set challenging goals for yourself!

Sales Representative Intern

May - July 2019 • Jacksonville, FL

What I liked

I was able to do hands-on work in the field as if I was a full-time employee, this allowed me to see how I would be treated if I were to pursue a career with Eli Lilly. I enjoyed the people I worked with, the training in Indianapolis, and the benefits of a company car were very generous.

What I wish was different

I wish I had been told before-hand that you spend a lot of time alone in the car.

Advice

I would absolutely recommend this internship to any marketing or sales-interested undergraduate student. It opened my eyes to a lot of the downfalls of a field position that are not advertised through job descriptions. Since the pharmaceutical industry is so intensely regulated, I believe I will be prepared for a professional sales profession in pharmaceuticals or not but would highly recommend understanding how regulated it is before applying!
